Side Mount Drawer Slides
Side mount drawer slides are the workhorse of the range and the easiest to fit: one rail screws to the drawer side, the mating rail screws to the cabinet wall, and the two slide past each other on ball bearings. Because the slides sit in the gap between drawer and cabinet, side mount is the most tolerant of imperfect openings and the simplest to retrofit into existing furniture.
We build side mount slides from 100 lb up to 770 lb, in cold-rolled steel and stainless steel, with soft close, push to open, locking and detachable variations. Full extension is available across most of the range. If you are replacing a failed slide on an existing cabinet, side mount is nearly always the match — measure the closed length and the side clearance and you will find the right size.

Side Mount Drawer Slides FAQ
How much side clearance does a side mount slide need?
Typically 1/2" per side for light duty models and up to 3/4" for heavy duty ones. Measure the cabinet opening, subtract the drawer box, divide the remainder by two, and that is your per-side allowance. Too little clearance and the drawer binds; too much and you need a spacer shim.
Can I use side mount slides on a frameless cabinet?
Yes. Frameless cabinets are the easiest case, because the cabinet wall is flat and full width. On face-frame cabinets you will usually need a rear mounting bracket or a spacer block to bring the slide forward to the plane of the drawer side.
Are side mount slides strong enough for heavy drawers?
Yes, provided the rating is right and the fixing is into solid material. Our side mount range goes to 770 lb per pair. The limiting factor is usually the cabinet wall — screwing a 500 lb slide into 1/2" particle board will fail long before the slide does.
What is a detachable slide?
A detachable or disconnect slide lets you lift the drawer off the cabinet rail without tools, by releasing a lever on the slide. It matters for anything that needs servicing or removal: filing cabinets, equipment racks, and drawers that get pulled out for cleaning.
How do I measure for a replacement side mount slide?
Three numbers: the closed length of the rail (not the drawer), the side clearance available, and the load you need. Extension type matters too — check whether the old slide was 3/4 or full extension so the new one does not change how far the drawer opens.
