Drawer Slides Built for Real Loads, Not Just Spec Sheets

AOLISHENG drawer slides — also called drawer rails, drawer runners or telescopic slides — are the parts that decide whether a drawer feels solid or cheap. This collection spans the full range of what we build: 80 lb undermount soft-close slides for kitchen cabinets, 100 lb ball bearing rails for bedroom and office furniture, all the way up to 770 lb twin-slide heavy duty rails for workshop fixtures, garage cabinets and vehicle storage.

Every slide in this range uses sealed ball bearings rather than plain nylon rollers. Ball bearings keep the glide smooth under side load, which matters most on wide drawers — the kind that bind and rattle on cheaper hardware. Depending on the model you get 3/4 extension, full extension, or over-travel that pushes the drawer front completely clear of the cabinet face.

Choose by three things: load rating (80–770 lb across the range), mount type (side mount, undermount, bottom mount) and feature (soft close, push-to-open, locking, detachable). If you already know the cabinet opening width and drawer length, the rest of the choice is short.

Drawer Slides FAQ

How much weight should a drawer slide be rated for?

Add up everything the drawer will hold at its heaviest, then add a 25–30% margin. A drawer of cast iron pans can hit 80 lb easily; a truck toolbox loaded with tools regularly passes 150 lb. Undersizing is the most common reason slides sag or the ball bearings flatten out.

What is the difference between full extension and 3/4 extension?

A 3/4 extension slide lets the drawer come out about three quarters of its length, so the back few inches stay inside the cabinet. Full extension lets the whole drawer clear the cabinet face, which is what you want for deep pan drawers, filing drawers and toolboxes where reaching the back matters.

Side mount, undermount or bottom mount — which do I need?

Side mount is the most forgiving and the easiest to retrofit: the rails screw to the drawer sides and the cabinet walls. Undermount hides completely under the drawer and is the standard for frameless kitchen cabinets. Bottom mount carries the load on the cabinet floor and suits heavy stair storage and under-stair lockers where the sides cannot take a fixing.

Should I choose soft close or push to open?

Soft close damps the last few inches so the drawer pulls itself shut quietly — the default choice for kitchens and bedrooms. Push to open lets you open the drawer with a press and no handle, which suits handleless kitchen fronts. Some AOLISHENG models such as the P4510 combine both, so you get push-to-open to release and soft close on the way back.

Do I need locking slides?

Locking slides hold the drawer shut in the closed position and, on some models, hold it open when extended. They are the right call for anything that moves: RV and camper drawers, truck toolboxes, service vehicles and workshop carts.

Can drawer slides be cut to length?

No — the ball bearing race and the end stops are formed at the factory, and cutting the rail destroys both. Measure your cabinet depth and pick the closest standard length instead; slides are sized to fit openings, not trimmed to order.

Not sure which rating fits your build? Start from the heaviest thing the drawer will ever carry, then add a 25–30% safety margin — our team can confirm the right model from your cabinet opening width and drawer length.
