Soft Close Drawer Slides
A soft close drawer slide uses a damper at the end of the travel so the drawer decelerates and pulls itself shut quietly instead of slamming. It is a small mechanism with an outsized effect: it protects the drawer front and cabinet face from impact damage and removes the noise that cheap hardware makes in a kitchen or a bedroom.
Our soft close range covers undermount slides from 80 lb, side mount models at 100 lb and 265 lb, and stainless versions for outdoor kitchens and damp locations. Some models combine soft close with push to open for handleless fronts. Soft close is available in 3/4 and full extension, and in side mount and undermount.

Soft Close Drawer Slides FAQ
How does soft close work?
A damper — usually a small hydraulic piston or an air chamber — sits at the back of the slide. When the drawer reaches the last 2–3 inches of closing travel the damper engages and resists the motion, so the drawer glides to a stop instead of hitting the cabinet face.
Do soft close slides work on very light drawers?
Yes, down to the point where the drawer is too light to overcome the damper. Very light, shallow drawers can sometimes stop short of fully closed; a small amount of added weight or a slightly firmer push solves it.
Do soft close slides wear out?
The damper is the part that ages. Good units are rated for tens of thousands of cycles, which is decades in a domestic kitchen. If a slide stops pulling itself closed, the damper has lost its resistance and the slide should be replaced — it cannot be topped up.
Can I combine soft close with push to open?
Only on models designed for it, such as our P4510. The two mechanisms pull against each other: push to open wants to eject the drawer, soft close wants to hold it in. Fitting them separately to the same drawer usually leaves it half open.
Do soft close slides need more clearance?
Undermount soft close slides need a little more space beneath the drawer box for the damper housing than a basic side mount rail. Side mount soft close models are generally the same footprint as their standard equivalents, but always check the product dimensions against your opening.
