Locking Drawer Slides for RVs, Trucks and Anything That Moves
Locking drawer slides add a latch to a standard ball bearing slide so the drawer cannot roll open from vibration, braking or gravity. On a stationary cabinet a plain slide is fine. The moment the cabinet is in a vehicle, on a boat or on a workshop cart that gets pushed around, an unlatched drawer walks itself open, and a 500 lb toolbox sliding out is a safety problem rather than an annoyance. This collection runs from a 150 lb locking slide up to a 500 lb locking slide.
Most of our locking slides lock in the closed position with a lever release, and several also lock in the extended position so the drawer stays put while you load it. They are built on the same full extension ball bearing section as the non-locking heavy range, so you keep the same load rating. The lock is added, not a substitute for strength. All are side mount and full extension, so check the side clearance dimension on the product page before you commit.
Use locking slides for truck toolboxes, RV and camper storage, service vehicles, medical and emergency carts, and any workshop drawer that gets slammed around. If the drawer only ever sits still, a standard heavy duty slide is the cheaper choice.

Locking Drawer Slides FAQ
What does a locking drawer slide do?
It adds a detent that holds the drawer in place, usually in the closed position, and on some models also when fully extended. You release it with a small lever or by pressing the drawer in. The point is to stop the drawer creeping open under vibration.
Do locking slides hold the drawer open as well as closed?
Some do. The D7625 and D2053 lock in the closed position and release with a lever. Check the product page for whether the model also locks when extended. If you load a drawer while it is out, an extended-position lock is the safer option.
Are locking slides weaker than non-locking ones?
No. The lock is a mechanism on top of a full-strength slide, so the load rating is the same as the equivalent non-locking model, 150, 265 or 500 lb depending on the part. Size the slide by load first, then confirm it locks where you need it to.
Can I add a lock to an existing slide?
Not as a retrofit. The latch is built into the rail. If you need locking, replace the slide with a locking version of the same length and mount type. The fixing points are the same, so the swap is usually straightforward.
How do I release a locking slide?
Closed-position locks release by pressing the drawer firmly in, which trips the detent. Extended-position locks release with a lever on the slide. The exact motion is printed on the product page for each model.
Where are locking slides required?
Anywhere the cabinet moves: RVs, campers, boats, trucks, service and emergency vehicles, and mobile workshop carts. Stationary cabinets do not need them, and using a plain slide there saves cost.
