Stainless Steel Drawer Slides
Stainless steel drawer slides are the answer whenever moisture, salt or regular wash-down is part of the job. Where a zinc-plated carbon steel slide is protected by a thin coating that scratches and then rusts, stainless resists corrosion through the whole section — so a scratch does not start a failure.
Typical uses are outdoor kitchens, marine and boat storage, food service and commercial kitchens, medical carts that get wiped down with disinfectant, and any installation in a damp garage or coastal property. Our stainless range covers 100 lb through 500 lb, including full extension and soft close models.
Stainless costs more than standard steel, so the honest advice is: specify it where water or chemicals reach the slide, and stay with zinc-plated steel for dry indoor cabinetry where stainless buys you nothing.

Are stainless steel drawer slides rust proof?
No metal is rust proof, but stainless resists corrosion far better than coated carbon steel because the chromium in the alloy forms a self-healing oxide layer. The practical difference is that a scratched zinc-plated slide rusts at the scratch, while a scratched stainless slide usually does not.
Which stainless grade do you use?
Our stainless slides use 300-series stainless for the rail and bearing assembly. If your project has a specific grade requirement — for food contact, medical or marine certification — tell us the standard you need to meet and we will confirm whether the model qualifies.
Do stainless slides carry the same load as steel ones?
Ratings are comparable within our range, and stainless models run to 500 lb per pair. Stainless is slightly softer than hardened carbon steel, so bearing life under extreme load can differ, but in normal use the rating is the rating.
Are stainless slides magnetic?
This varies by grade and by how much the steel was worked during forming. If magnetism matters in your application — some medical and laboratory settings — ask before ordering and we will check the specific model.
Can I use stainless slides outdoors in winter?
Yes, and this is what they are for. For an outdoor kitchen or a boat, pair stainless slides with stainless fasteners — a stainless rail held by plated screws will still fail when the screws corrode.
